Spain, the first country in European football history with 5 teams in semifinals!

The Iberian football has dominate The Old Continent since 2000. As a testimony in this regard are the trophies won by Real Madrid in 1999 and 2001, and hegemony installed by FC Barcelona from 2006 until now. Sevilla and Atletico Madrid have completed the picture of Spanish successes in the second competition in Europe, Europa League.
This season is no exception and Spain attacked two trophies with a total of five teams. Barcelona and Real Madrid are heading for a dream final of the Champions League, and in Eura League at least one of the finalists in Bucharest will be Cervantes’ country.
Valencia and Atletico Madrid will meet in a direct clash for a “ticket” on National Arena, while the second finalist will be decided between Athletic Bilbao and Sporting Lisbon.
The present situation is not unique in European football landscape. There is a precedent, when a nation was represented by five teams in European Cup semifinals.
It happens in 1979/1980 season when West Germany monopolized the UEFA Cup semifinals with Bayern Munich, Eintracht Frankfurt, VfB Stuttgart and Borussia Monchengladbach.
The trophy was won by Eintracht Frankfurt thanks to goals scored away to Borussia Monchengladbach. It was 1-0 for Entracht at home and 2-3 away.
The fifth German team, Hamburg, played the European Cup final with Nottingham Forest, and lost the final, score 0-1 on Santiago Bernabeu stadium in Madrid.

A similar situation occurred in 2002-2003, when AC Milan, Juventus and Inter Milan reached to Champions League semifinals while Lazio playing for UEFA Cup.

Juventus will return to a single sponsor for play equipment

From the starting of the season, Juventus will giving up the working with major present sponsors, BetClic and Balocco, searching for a new partnership.
Goodbye BetClic and Balocco. At the end of the season Juventus will probably decide to not renew the contracts with the two sponsors from the last two seasons witch were on bianconero’s playing shirts, the model chosen by former president and managing director of Juventus Jean Claude Blanc. From season 2012/2013 they will return to the traditional formula, one sponsor on all play equipment, although they not known yet the new company’s name.
Unofficial rumors claim it could be Goodyear, leader and principal provider of tires for cars, trucks, SUVs, race cars and aircraft, that since November has already signed a partnership with Juventus, available in this season too. The alternative, perhaps more profitable financially for the Turin club, could be the association with the UAE. Sheikh Saud Bin Mohammed A. Al-Thani will organize the World Cup in 2022 and he would like an association with an international brand as Juventus is, to promote his image: recently named best airline in the Middle East and Africa, Qatar Airways could become one of the potential sponsors of Juventus, a situation that gives rise to “air duel” with AC Milan, the team sponsored by Fly Emirates.
Whatever the news represented by the sponsor for next season, Juventus officials’ hope is mainly to get a superior amount than post seasons (11 million per season from New Holland in 2007-2010, 8 million from Betclic and 3 million from Balocco, during 2010-12). The 24 million that Juventus received every year from Tamoil, company owned by the Libyan government, remain impossible to equal, but club management is based on income at least 16-18 million.

Direct execution on Bernabeu. Emotions for Di Matteo’s Londoners

Real Madrid vs. Bayern Munich and Chelsea vs. FC Barcelona are the semifinals in the Champions League 2011-2012 season. After the Germans and Spaniards had obtained “tickets” for the the semifinals the night before, Los Blancos were qualified 8-2 on aggregate in front of APOEL Nicosia, and Londoners have lived dangerously with Benfica, 3-1 to on aggregate.
After 3-0 in the first leg, Real had to fulfill a mere formality in front of their supporters. “Whites” have opened the score in the 26th minute by Cristiano Ronaldo and Kaka set halftime score: 2-0 (’37), who took advantage of a mistake of Urko Pardo, founded in a day without inspiration. Manduca reduced the difference in the 67th minute, but after only nine minutes “CR7″ scored the first free kick of the season. Callejón – came along the way – did 4-1, after an offside unmarked. At two minutes, guests were given a penalty, turned by Esteban Solari, and Angel Di Maria closed the table with a sensational lob over a dreamer Pardo (’84).
In the second match of the evening, Chelsea started well and opened the score after only 22 minutes of play, with a penalty certainly executed by veteran Frank Lampard. Remaining in 10 people, after the elimination of Maxi Perreira, Jorge Jesus hoped his players not to take too many goals, Artur doing wonders in “vultures” goal. Benfica has created few occasions, but Chelsea led all hostilities, and in the second half missed a lot of occasions. In the 86th minute, Lusitania restored parity by Javi Garcia and hoped to a miraculous qualification. There was a huge opportunity in overtime, but Raul Meireles scored for 2-1 after a flash counterattack, at the end of a race of 80 meters.

FC Barcelona and Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League semi-finals! Catalans, qualified by two penalties

After a 0-0 draw in first leg, Barcelona managed to qualify in the Champions League semifinals following a 3-1 win in the return with AC Milan. Two penalties scored by Messi secured the fifth consecutive qualification of the Catalans in the semifinals. The Argentine equaled last night the goals record scored by a player in the Champions League in one season, 14.

Although the Italians have landed in Spain with an eye to the Champions League final from 1994, when Milan blew Barcelona with 4-0, “the devils” did not played very detached in front of Catalan pass machine. AC Milan tried on “Camp Nou” the same tactic from the first leg: two defensive-line and a explosive offensive trident, formed by Boateng, Ibrahimovic and Robinho, sent on the pitch to harass Barcelona’s box on each occasion arose. Allegri’s approach proved to be failing. After only 11 minutes, Antonini’s imprudence was penalized by the referee Kuipers, who gave a penalty to a bad intervention! Messi turned elegant, and he managed his second goal against teams from Italy. Under the sterile domination of Barcelona, rossoneri were quickly reorganized and Nocerino scored on a counter-attack, after an excellent pass provided by Ibrahimovic in the 32nd minute.

Messi, the match and the record!

When both teams were preparing for the Half Time, Nesta has committed an inexcusable error to a corner and his holding by shirt produced the second penalty of the match. It scored the same Messi, who fooled Abbiati by changing the corner and brought the hosts back in advantage. The Argentinian equaled the record of only players who managed to score 14 goals in one season of Champions League: Jose Altafini (in 1962/1963) and Ruud Van Nistelrooy (in 2002/2003).

The second half did not bring any change of hostilities, and a lucky rebound left Iniesta alone with Abbiati, and he scored for 3-1 in the 53rd minute. “Tiki-Taka” helped the Catalans to keep ball possession and rossoneri have never managed to threaten Valdes’ goal until the final. It finished 3-1, and Guardiola’s team waiting for their opponent in the semifinals, which will be choosed between Chelsea and Benfica in this evening.

Barcelona vs. AC Milan

This evening it will play the second leg of the Champions League quarter-finals, and the most tight duel will be between Barcelona and AC Milan.
It is a clash between two great clubs that dominated European football in the last 10 years. Both AC Milan and Barcelona have won the Champions League trophy, and not only once. The presence of both teams in the latter stages of this competition is common, and the failure of either would bring much suffering among supporters.
Barcelona and AC Milan met in this edition of the Champions League in the group stage. They scored then not less than 9 goals in both matches. Despite this, the first match of the quarterfinals on the San Siro ended 0-0, neither team was unable to impose. There were occasions on both sides, but Guardiola’s players were more chances to score. The Catalans had superior possession, as usual, but this has not helped at all to go home with the three points.
Guardiola is aware that this evening they had to score to qualify for the next stage, and to attack decisive the goal defended by Abbiati. Puyol said the same thing: “This is a final, there is no margin for error. It is always important not to concede any goals. We will have to move the ball quickly, keep a high pace and score as soon as possible.”
It is possible that Pato return to the pitch, and surely he wants to repeat the performance from the group stage, when he scored a goal at Camp Nou in the first minute of play.
Allegri had many players injured lately, but nevertheless managed to maintain a straight line and fight both the championship and Champions League. The player who draws the most attention for the Catalans is Ibrahimovic, who returns to Camp Nou for the first time since he left Barcelona.
We hope to be a spectacular match with many goals.
